Downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street
The original Vegas, about 15 minutes north of the Strip. Vintage neon, lower stakes tables, the Fremont Street Experience light canopy, and a grittier, more honest energy than anything on the Boulevard. Free to wander, and the zip line overhead is a bonus.
The Arts District (18b)
Just south of downtown, 18b is blocks of large scale murals, independent galleries, vintage shops, and local coffee. First Friday, the monthly art walk, is when the neighborhood is at its liveliest. This is where the city’s creative side actually lives.
Nelson Ghost Town and Eldorado Canyon
About 45 minutes south, Nelson Ghost Town is open to the public for a fee. Weathered buildings, rusted vintage cars, and one of the most photographed backdrops in southern Nevada. It sits at the mouth of Eldorado Canyon, the same canyon our private trails run through.
Local Dining Away from the Resorts
Spring Mountain Road, the heart of Las Vegas Chinatown, is where the city eats when it is off the clock. Ramen, dim sum, Korean barbecue, and Thai, often at a fraction of resort prices. Ask a local, not a concierge.
Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive
Thirty minutes west and you are in a National Conservation Area. The 13 mile one way scenic loop is the fastest reset available from the Strip, with pullouts, trailheads, and towering red sandstone. Timed entry reservations are required in peak season, so book ahead.
Container Park and Live Music
A family friendly downtown hub built from shipping containers, with local shops, a playground, a giant fire breathing praying mantis out front, and live music most evenings. Free to enter, and a relaxed contrast to the Strip’s intensity.
Seven Magic Mountains
About 25 minutes south, artist Ugo Rondinone’s stack of neon boulders rises straight out of the desert floor. Free, quick, and one of the most photographed art installations in Nevada. Easy to pair with a drive toward Eldorado Canyon.
Best Time to Explore Off the Strip
Fall through spring, roughly October to April, is the sweet spot for anything outdoors near Las Vegas, with mild days and cool mornings. Summer runs hot, so outdoor plans work best early in the day, and shade and water matter or take advantage of our beautiful sunset tour, where the towering canyons offer shade for a cooler ride. On our tours that is handled for you: every ride includes unlimited ice cold water, coolie neck ties, and sunscreen, and the Colorado River stop is a place to cool off when the temperature climbs.
We supply all your safety gear and water during the tour. It is mandatory to wear closed toe shoes.
- Long sleeves and pants are strongly recommended due to desert terrain, cacti, rocks, brush, and wildlife, plus if riding an ATV your legs are next to the muffler and will get hot. Dress for the weather and desert conditions.
- We recommend zipper clothing or fanny pack, or small backpack to hold your belongings, so they do not fall out of your pockets while riding. If you lose items on the trails, most likely it will be lost or damaged.
- Hair MUST be flat enough to fit under a helmet.
- Water is provided during the tour. You may bring additional snacks or beverages if desired.
